Bring your love of fishing home with this museum-grade fine art print of “Before The Strike”, an original painting by Jo Starling.
Pause captures the tension of that moment before a bream hits your lure, as imagined by the artist.
“The secret to catching bream lies in the pause… they scrutinise everything, so you must have patience and allow them to inspect your offering.
I have had to teach myself to slow down in order to become a more successful angler. With this painting, I wanted to visualise why. I’ve worked to capture the intensity and grace of a hunting bream, cautiously considering my lure.”
~ Jo Starling, 2020.
Inspired by a stunning underwater photograph by Scott Amon, Jo layered watery lines to achieve the effect of sunlight on the bream’s form. “I didn’t once paint the actual shape of the bream in. The sense of form is achieved purely by light and shade water ripples. It was a great challenge!”
These fine art prints are reproduced in pigment inks on either museum grade cotton rag (which has an archival life of 100 years +) or canvas. Cotton rag prints are hand signed by the artist. The print will post unframed. (Framed print images shown here are examples only. Framing is not included.)
